Ceramics Care Guide
Handcrafted ceramics carry warmth and character that mass-produced items cannot replicate.
This guide will help you better understand how to use and care for your pieces.
1. General Care for All Ceramic Pieces
Before & After Use:
-
Rinse and dry before first use.
-
Wash promptly after use and dry fully before storing.
-
Handle gently to avoid chipping.
Temperature Awareness:
-
Avoid sudden temperature changes
- Do not expose to extreme heat transitions
2. Caring for Unglazed / Powder-Absorbing Ceramics
Appliance Compatibility:
✔ Microwave
✔ Dishwasher
✔ Steamer
✘ Oven
✘ Direct Fire / IH
These guidelines apply to regular ceramic pieces without metallic decoration.
3. For Silver-Luster / Silver-Plated Pieces
Silver surfaces require additional care to preserve their appearance over time.
Appliance Compatibility:
✘ Microwave
✘ Dishwasher
✘ Oven
✘ Direct Fire / IH
Cleaning:
- Hand wash only
- Use mild dish soap
- Avoid abrasive cleaners
- Dry thoroughly after washing
Storage:
- Store in a dry, ventilated place
- For long-term storage, wrap in soft cloth and seal
If Light Oxidation Occurs:
- Polish gently with the included silver cloth
- Or use non-abrasive toothpaste, rinse, and dry
Note
- The silver glaze is high-fired and stable, safe for normal use and drinking.
- These guidelines help prevent natural oxidation and maintain the surface.
4. Unglazed / Porous Ceramics
Some unglazed or porous ceramics may show temporary water marks during use — this is normal.
To minimize staining:
-
Before first use, soak the piece overnight in rice-water or porridge water.
-
Let dry completely the next day.
-
If discoloration occurs, soak in baking soda water or a gentle ceramic cleanser.
5. Natural Characteristics of Handmade Ceramics
Because each piece is shaped and glazed by hand, small differences and marks may appear:
-
Pinholes
-
Glaze flow marks
-
Tiny bumps or dips
-
Iron spots
-
Slight variations in size or shape
These are not defects — they are part of the beauty of handmade work.
6. Purchase Notes
Please review the unique qualities of handmade ceramics before purchasing.
The following are not reasons for return:
-
Minor size or shape variations
-
Natural glaze marks or pinholes
-
Slight color differences from screen
-
